Sitting in Eastern Nebraska is a railroad hot spot called Grand island. Up until a time shortly after the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe merger, the Union Pacific and Burlington Northern crossed each other on a set of diamonds. These diamonds were then replaced by a flyover that carries the BNSF Revenna Subdivision over the Union Pacific Columbus Subdivision.
Nebraska Diamonds filmed over the course of two trips in May and was September, 1988 during two of George's many trips out to photograph and video trains over Crawford Hill in Western Nebraska.
A variety of power could be seen during this time from Oakway SD60's and LMX B39-8E's as well as numerous units from the Chicago and North Western.
Take a trip back in time to visit the Diamonds in Grand Island. They may be long gone, but thanks to George Redmond, you can still see what Railfanning was like when they were still In place!
